Course Description:

This course is designed to give the participants an introduction and some insight into the print industry; it's limitations and possibilities. They will also learn how to prepare their graphic files for a successful print. 

Learning Outcomes:

On successful completion of the course, students will be able to:

  • Understand the print process
  • Difference between print colours and screen colours (spot colours, RGB, CMYK)
  • Preparing images/graphics for colour print
  • Colour separation
  • Two colour and four colour print
  • Using Adobe Acrobat and distiller 

 

Expectations:

  • Students are requested to attend class on time and actively participate in class discussions
  • Assignments are due at the beginning of class on the due date
  • Late assignments are marked at 50%
  • Cellular phones and pagers must be turned off
  • Students are expected to read the material in advance of coming to class to facilitate learning

Evaluation:

Attendance/Participation 10%, Assignments 40%, Project 20%, Final Project 30%

A requirement of 60% in all areas is to be achieved for certificate/diploma.
