Course description:

Methodology:

This course is designed for intermediate to advanced level students who want to improve their speaking, writing, and critical thinking skills. The topics presented focus on the communications skills every professional to succeed in today's global business environment.

The integrated approach to the course will allow students to build their english vocabulary and grammar skills while improving their writing techniques and critical thinking abilities. 

The course content is delivered through lectures, combined with student-centred activities. The class is highly participatory, therefore, students should expect to take part in oral discussions and to attend every class. There will be homework every week that will contribute to the participation portion of the final grade.

Learner outcome:

Students will be able to:

  • Use the direct and the indirect organizational plan
  • Write effective sentences and develop sentence unity
  • Use active/passive voice and parallel structure correctly
  • Write a coherent paragraph
  • Write a routine or a persuasive business letter
  • Prepare a resume
  • Prepare for employment interviews
  • Write a report
