Course description:

Methodology:

This course is designed for intermediate to advanced level students who want to improve their speaking, writing, and critical thinking skills. The topics presented focus on the communication skills that every professional needs to succeed in today's global business environment.

The integrated approach to the course will allow students to build their english vocabulary and grammar skills while improving their writing techniques and critical thinking abilities. 

The course content is delivered through lectures, combined with student-centred activities. The class is highly participatory, therefore, students should expect to take part in oral discussions and to attend every class. There will be homework every week that will contribute to the participation portion of the final grade. 

Learner outcome:

Students will be able to:

  • Identify techniques that improve effective communication among diverse workplace audiences
  • Understand and apply all phases of the writing process
  • Write an effective memorandum or e-mail message
  • Apply the indirect writing plan for negative messages
