Course description:

Methodology:

This comprehensive writing course focuses on sentence structure and paragraph writing techniques suited for the academic writer. It is geared towards intermediate to advanced college or college bound international and english as a second language student.

It is also appropriate native speakers of english who need to develop their basic composition skills or to brush up on sentence structure and mechanics.

Part 2 of a 2 part series.

The course is taught using a process-oriented approach. The structure of paragraphs and their important components are taught in small, learnable steps. Clear, relevant models illustrate each step, and varied practices reinforce  each lesson. The models and practices feature current and general academic topics relevant to students' interests in a rapidly changing world. Many also provide practice-using english in technical, scientific and business contexts.

Learner outcome:

Students will be able to:

1. Use relative clauses correctly in sentences

2. Use participial phrases correctly in sentences

3. Achieve coherence in paragraph writing

4. Write supporting details efficiently
