Course Description: 

Methodology

This course provides an in-depth analysis of business case studies related to corporate strategic directions, challenges, successes and failures.

- Provides a general management perspective in decision-making and the analysis of general management problems.

- Case studies are used to expose students to a wide range of topics such as

- Setting goals and objectives

- Strategy development

- Development of an effective organizational structure

Measurement and control 

The course is delivered in a structured classroom setting consisting primarily of lectures and in-class activities. The activities include group discussions and assigned presentations. There is a high expectation of additional homework for preparation and assignment completion.

Learner Outcomes

 

Student will be able to:

  • Appreciate the complexity of senior management decision-making process
  • Synthesize management, financial and marketing concepts for effective leadership
  • Expand the understanding of success in the North American business culture

 

 

 

 

Evaluation: Attendance 15%; assignments 20%; course paper 25%; final exam 40%

A requirement of 60% is to be achieved in all areas for certificate/diploma

Passing grade:

If this is a core course in your diploma, 70% in overall evaluation is a passing grade. If this is a core course in your certificate, 60% in overall evaluation is a passing grade. If this is an elective course in your program of study, 50% in overall evaluation is a passing grade.

Prerequisite courses or equivalent knowledge:

BU 218-220 Business management; BU 222 Marketing or equivalent business course
