Course description:

Methodology:

A comprehensive course on business activities beyond the national border, and highlighting the linkages between individuals, businesses, and governments.

 

Students explore issues confronting firms of all sizes in global business, learn key concepts from diverse disciplines, and gain insight into interrelationships in international business. Students develop the ability to formulate own personal views and practice making decisions in the global business environment.

The course is delivered in a structured classroom setting consisting primarily of lectures and in-class activities.

The activities include small group exercises, case studies, presentations, and group discussions. Students are expected to act as professionals in a business setting.

Course outcomes:

Upon successful completion of this course students will have:

  • A good understanding of globalization and its key drivers
  • An awareness of cultural, political, legal, and economic environments influencing decision-making in international business
  • Knowledge of fundamental concepts in international economics and finance
  • Knowledge of management strategies and the implications for business functions in the global marketplace
  • An awareness of current developments in global business
  • Improved oral and written communication skills and presentation skills
  • Improved competencies in analysis, research, and problem-solving

Opportunities and challenges in global business; cultural, political, legal, and economic environments influencing global business; theories of international trade and investment; foreign exchange and international financial management; strategies in the global environment; global marketing; global logistics; global business management

Evaluation:

Attendance/participation 10%, individual assignment 20%, two group assignment, each 15%, mid-term examination 20%, final examination 20%

 

A requirement of 60% is to be achieved in all areas for Certificate/Diploma
