Course description:

Methodology:

This presentation is an expanded Going Global course, using four of the Going Global Texts from the Forum for International Trade Training and much additional material. It is aimed at both Canadian and International students.

It will cover the following Going Global Seminars:

· Going Global: An Introduction to International Market Research (a)

· Going Global: An Introduction to International Marketing

· Going Global: An Introduction to International Trade Finance (b)

· Going Global: An Introduction to International Trade Logistics & Distribution

It is suggested that - Processes and Procedures of International Trade be taken as a prerequisite for this course.

The course is delivered in a structured classroom setting consisting primarily of lectures and in-class activities.

The activities include group discussions, Newspaper readings and assigned projects.

There is a high expectation of additional homework for preparation and assignment completion.

Course outcomes:

  • Learn the vocabulary of international trade
  • Learn local vocabulary essential to export from Canada to the Pacific Rim
  • Understand the basic elements of using english newspapers to keep appraised of the current business situation and international trade developments
  • Understand the history of international trade
  • Lean incoterms and american foreign trade terms
  • Understand how to do currency conversions
  • Understand how to use and convert between different measurement systems, imperial, US, and metric
  • Receive an Introduction Going Global certificate from FITT

A requirement of 60% in all areas is to be achieved for Certificate/Diploma
