Methodology |
|
This course provides an overview of the environment in which Canadian businesses operate.
The course is particularly appropriate for students who have not been exposed to the foundations of the Canadian economy, politics, culture, and industry sectors.

The course is delivered in a structured classroom setting consisting of lectures and in-class discussions. The activities include group discussions, and assigned presentations. |

Learning outcomes:
Upon successful completion of this course, students should be able to:

Identify the various factors which affect the operation of the Canadian business environment

Understand how Canada's political system operates and affect businesses

Distinguish between the Canadian and American business environments

Explain the roles of crown corporations in the Canadian economy

Explain the importance of international trade to the Canadian economy and to maintaining the country's wealth

Explain Canada's role in the new world

Expectations:
· Students are requested to attend class on time and actively participate in class discussions.
· Cellular phones and pagers must be turned off.

Prerequisite courses or equivalent knowledge:
completion of the Foundations program or demonstration of equivalent skills. |

Passing grade:
If this is a core course in your diploma, 70% in overall evaluation is a passing grade. If this is a core course in your certificate, 60% in overall evaluation is a passing grade. If this is an elective course in your program of study, 50% in overall evaluation is a passing grade. |
